Hi, hi friends! For many people, August means back to school. It can be stressful going back to school after a long restful summer. The first week is always madness with no parking and lots of people all over campus. It can be dreadful trying to do drop-ins and hoping to get added in. The last thing you want to worry about is your outfit, but don't worry! We've put together some easy looks that won't break the bank (so you can still buy text books) and you'll be sure to get an A+ in style!
Hello August and Hello back to school! Growing up I remember the best part about going back to school was being able to go school clothes shopping with my mom. I have the greatest memories of those times with her spending hours with her in stores buying and trying on new outfits for the school year. Especially that first week of school and being able to show up in your brand new cute clothes! No better feeling than that.
When I think of the first day of school I want to look cute but still comfortable since its the first full day back after a long summer vacation. For my look I chose these adorable mustard pants, as soon as I saw these I was obsessed with them! I paired it with a black tank that I knew would tuck into the pants nicely and not bulge at all. I also am pairing it with a jean jacket just because it may be a little warm outside but classrooms can get a bit chilly so having a cute jacket to keep warm is always nice!
To accessorize it I chose a simple neck scarf to add a little bit of a fun detail. I also would choose some simple gold earrings and maybe some fun gold rings to tie it all together, but not overwhelm the neck scarf. For shoes a good strappy sandal would be fun with this if you were taller but because of me being on the shorter side I would opt for a shoe that has a little bit of a heel to give me some height! Here's to a great new school year!
One blink and summer break is already over! It was fun while it lasted but it is time to start getting prepared to hit the books again and the first way to prepare is with your wardrobe! Stepping on campus on the first day of school in a new cute outfit is always my fav!
I wore a yellow off the shoulder top to compliment my skin tone and really make it stand out and dressed it with a light washed distressed pair of jeans! When I'm at school comfort is my main priority and these two definitely makes me feel that way!
I decided to wear a gold coin layered necklace to add more to my outfit but still keeping it casual. I love this outfit because it's a simple back to school style but yet I can still look cute in it if I decide to hang out with friends somewhere after class!
The time has come for back to school shopping! There's always excitement for what the new school year will bring and also shopping for the new items that will get you through all the seasons to come! The outfit that I picked this week can be customized for hot or cold weather and that's what inspired me!
When I go to school I like to pick low maintenance pieces so that I can feel as comfortable as possible. I styled our navy jumper with a white and red striped turtleneck top. This jumper is awesome because its loose fitting and is comprised of a nice thick opaque material, you also have free and full movement with the adjustable shoulder straps. You can style the jumper with a top according to the appropriate season, I chose the this striped turtleneck with fall in mind. I also love the contrasting colors of the two pieces.
I accessorized this outfit with a navy blue fedora style hat and a black and gold scallop necklace. I think that the navy hat coordinates well with fall fashion and takes the outfit to a more style influenced level. The gold tassel necklace is also a great statement piece and reminds me of something Madewell would sell for twice as much money. My favorite aspect of this necklace though, is that it's adjustable and can be worn a bunch of different ways with a bunch of different outfits. The final result of this outfit is studious and stylish! Just because you want to be comfortable doesn't mean that you have to compromise your style!
Even though I have been out of school for three years now I still wake up in a panic thinking I'm late for class or that I forgot to study for an exam. While I was school I also worked many part time jobs so it was important for me to dress comfortable but also with some effort if I had to work after class. For this outfit I went with these brown corduroy skirt and navy ruffle blouse.
The structured skirt stays down so I don't have to worry about it blowing up while I run between classes. I also really like the big pockets, perfect for holding my chapstick. The navy blouse is a nice contrast against the brown color. Navy is typically a more polished and professional look but the ruffles and lace neck detail give it a feminine touch.
Since this look is really girly I topped it off with my favorite linked heart necklace. I also paired it with my brown oxfords for an extra studious look. The best part about this look is that it's great for after school activities because it's just so comfortable!
Thanks for dropping by and we hope you enjoyed this Back To School theme!
See you next time!
Happy Monday, friends! It's no surprise you've seen paper bag shorts all over Instagram and the blogosphere. These shorts are prefect for a clean, polished look in the blazing summer. The materials are typically breathable cotton and linen blends allowing you to give your jean shorts a break. Below are a few ways to style them!
There's nothing better than finding the perfect pair of shorts and these blue striped shorts are the perfect go-to. The front tie style of these shorts helps set them apart from any other shorts and brings it up a notch! And the tone of the blue makes it great to pair with any color top!
This week I decided to keep the blue trend going and set these shorts up with a navy tank top. The two different tones of blue went together really well and helped enhance each other more! Since the shorts have skinny white stripes I decided to wear a white knit button top as an outer layer! The flowy shirt goes hand in hand with the tucked in tank.
I accessorized with a fun yellow headband with little white and navy flowers. The yellow really pops and makes my outfit stand out even more! The yellow color of the white and navy flowers also helps accent the tank top and sweater I'm wearing. I decided to go with a small silver key necklace. I chose this necklace because it's so tiny and doesn't take away from my outfit but still adds to it.
This outfit is definitely one of my faves for the summer. I would wear this outfit to a fun picnic at the park or a backyard BBQ! If it gets too hot I can easily take off the sweater and even swap my sandals out for some wedges and have a fun time day drinking in Midtown!
These vintage washed black and white pinstriped shorts are perfect for an effortless style that looks well put together. With their elastic ruched waistband and waist ties, it gives some drama, and the pockets give them functionality.
I decided to style these shorts with light neutral colors. A white cozy fit cropped knit with accompanying white bralette brightened up the look. I tied a satin print handkerchief around my curls to create a pineapple style up-do. I continued to play up this casual style with details. Gorgeous blue and white crystal stud earrings catch the eye.
Stone bracelets with gold detail seem to catch all of the neutral hues incorporated in this look. A delicate gold necklace with neutral beads draws the attention to the exposed decollete. I finished the look with gold mirror lens aviator sunglasses, a pink nude lip color and gray-nude heels. This look is perfect for a lazy Sunday with friends, a weekend barbecue, or a casual date night!
This week's item is a fun piece to have in your closet for summer and could easily transition into the early days of fall. Which is what inspired my outfit this week.
These shorts come in different colors and designs, but for my choice I decided on the tan ones with a thin white stripe. I lean more towards neutral colors so I knew this would pair perfectly with my closet already. I added a simple white tank underneath it and added a mustard sweater on top. The colors compliment each other well and the sweater is a perfect piece to keep you a little warmer while you wear the shorts.
I paired all of this with a simple statement necklace. I loved the gold detailing to go with the outfit because it complimented the tan and mustard very well and the brown fringe on the necklace tied in my clogs. With shorts I always add a shoe that gives me a little bit more height to give the illusion that my legs are longer, because hello that 5'2" height needs all the help it can get!
It's been in the (very) high 90s to low 100s the last couple weeks in Sacramento, so staying cool and comfortable has been key! However, with all the running around I do sometimes its not practical to wear dresses and I feel when I wear jean shorts too often I get in a fashion slump. Enters the paper bag shorts! This week I styled the light blue solid paper bag shorts.
I paired the shorts with our shimmery mustard bodysuit. My favorite detail about this bodysuit is the fabric! I feel like it's a bit elevated compared to a basic bodysuit and it can be worn for more special occasions or going out for date night. The drapey front is perfect for going braless and I get the fitted look of a bodysuit with a bit more coverage.
Since it's been so hot I pulled my hair up in a messy topnot and left a bit of hair down to frame my face. To take away from the messy hair style (or to add to it) I adorned my hair with our new knot headbands! This one has light yellow polka dots sprinkled throughout that pulls it together with the bodysuit. I finished my look with an evil eye layered necklace!
How cute are these blue and white striped paper bag shorts? I went for a very laid back, casual look and paired them with a fitted black tank top to show off the detail of the waist.
I kept the accessories minimal and dainty. I am sort of a plain Jane and I love neutrals, so these gold stud earrings were perfect for this outfit. I also chose a cute little gold necklace with a little sparkle to tie it all together.
This outfit would be great for dinner with your girlfriends, or Sunday brunch! Easy and simple!
Wanna add a pair or two to your wardrobe?
Thank you for stopping by!
We hope to see you next week!
Welcome to another week of Styled By RIRE. Wedding season is in full swing, so this week we are bringing you easy wedding looks that are both stylish and won't break the bank! Most of these looks can be worn again for other occasions, casually on the weekend, or even to work. We went for all types of different weddings, so no matter the theme we hope these jog some inspiration!
Weddings are my all time favorite events because who doesn't love baring witness to two beautiful souls pledging their undying love to one another, while having the rare chance to get all gussied up yourself. This week I styled my outfit as if I were attending a tropical destination wedding! When packing your own wedding outfit just remember less is more in tropical weather because it's going to be grotesquely humid and you're going to be feeling real, real, sticky. You're not going to want to wear anything tight fitting or anything with a lot of bells and whistles like tulle or a row of buttons down your back because you're going to want to feel that island breeze when or if it decides to grace your presence.
I chose a double lined loose fitting shift dress in a refreshing misty hue with a warm tropical floral pattern splashed about it, which made it so festive and relevant. The sleeves are 3 quarter-inch with ties at each end which I love because it adds a bit of formality to make it wedding worthy. Another feature of this dress that I love is the slight slit in the neckline, it looks great on non busty and busty women alike! I love how fun and flirty this dress feels when I'm wearing it.
I chose to accessorize this killer outfit with a pair of vibrant red tassel earrings and two long necklaces. I love how the bright red color of the earrings stand out from the soft muted tones of the dress. For the two necklaces I chose two different styles, the first one (silver palm leaf) is super simple and matches the tropical patterned dress perfectly! The second sparkly beaded necklace is what adds a bit more wedding worthy pzazz and elevates the overall look from appearing too casual! I think that the two different necklaces mesh well together and give off a fun funky vibe. All in all I know I'll feel comfortable and pretty while dancing and sipping on Mai Tai's all into the night!
Wedding season is here and everyone loves finding the right dress for the occasion (without outshining the bride of course)! I decided to step out of my norm and wore a long flowy floral dress, and much to my surprise it was the perfect match for me!
This is a dress that'd be ideal for an outside wedding! The modest long length of the dress mixed with the sassy off the shoulder look makes a great contrast, but there's more to love about it! The bold blue color with the pastel flowers makes the dress pop more than it already does. For sure a head turner!
I accessorized with a white marble necklace with gold accents because it helped bring out the light colors of the flowers on the dress more! I finished off my outfit with some super cute tan strappy wedges. I love the way this outfit makes me feel so girly and dressed up while all remaining comfortable which is always my goal!
This week's theme was wedding attire! I love going to a fun wedding to celebrate the love of a newly wed couple! Since I'm a natural rebel, I wanted to go against traditional wedding guest attire. Instead of pastels and prints and bright colors, I thought of a raven. Blacked out no matter the season.
I went with a gorgeous black wrap dress, and kept the accessories as simple and classic as black is! A black choker with a rhinestone in the center, a black floppy brim hat, black/tortoise shell sunnies, and gold chandelier earrings to bring out the gold trim on the glasses. I also added a small black detail ring, and a black stone bracelet with gold embellishing.
I added black heels with a chunky stem, and gold buckle detail. Red lips and nails finish this look, and I'm ready to attend any summer wedding, bringing the "cool factor" as an additional gift!
Wedding season is here! There’s something magical about weddings, and plus it gives you a good reason to dress up and look cute! I think depending on what type of wedding you go to will absolutely decide on what type of look you should dress for. For my look I’m thinking about a wedding in wine country that starts later in the evening!
I chose this adorable long sleeve, maxi dress for my look. To me this just screams a wedding in Napa. The long sleeves are perfect for a nighttime wedding to give you a little bit more coverage and the pattern and material is elegant enough without going over the top like you would for a black tie wedding.
I chose to accessorize the dress with a longer pendant necklace due to the neck line being low cut to help continue the neckline. I wanted the jewelry to be gold to match the gold stripes in the dress and the detailing on the necklace had some blues in it that complimented the dress perfectly. I paired it with one of my favorite pair of tan mules. Any type of heel would go perfect with this! I would stay away from any flats just because the dress is longer and needs the height. Yay for love!!
Around this time of year we usually get a few customers every week coming in to find something to wear to a wedding. One thing I've learned from working at the boutique is how much weddings have changed over the years. These days there are so many types of weddings and themes that it can go from stressful to exciting when helping our customers find the right outfit. Since my style is typically more simple I wanted to try a more dressy look.
This misty blue grey dress has so many beautiful details throughout that it's hard not feel gorgeous and confident wearing it. Typically evening weddings call for more formal wear which I feel all these details really fit the bill. However, if you're attending a late afternoon wedding this one will work just as well because of the light color!
Since this dress has a halter neckline and so many details on the bodice I went without a necklace and opted for dangle earrings. I didn't want my earrings to also compete with the dress so I kept with shiny, silver hoop style earrings.
We hope we gave you some inspiration for your next wedding guest look!
Thank you for joining in this week's Styled By RIRE!
See you next week!
