Happy 2019 everyone! For many people a new year brings new resolutions and goals. We thought it would be fun for us to each try out something new that we wouldn't typically wear. After all, you won't know if you'll like it if you don't give it a shot!
Stepping out of your comfort zone in any aspect of your life can always be a little scary, from the biggest to smallest things, but it's usually always worth it in the end! This week is a fun theme which required me to step away from what I'm used to. I don't tend to stray away from my neutral color pallet and pretty much all cream wardrobe, whoops.
For my outfit I chose this fun striped jumpsuit that had many colors I wouldn't normally wear, but I still managed to sneak a little cream in there. I added a super fun hunter green long sleeve underneath it to add a pop of color that I would normally never do! And just like I said earlier, it was so worth taking that risk! It turned out to be so cute and exciting.
To accessorize it I paired it with an adorable layered necklace and big earrings. I added a white boot to add some height, because your girl needs all the help she can get. I hope this posts help inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the risk!
Okay...how is it 2019? I literally blinked, Christmas came and went, and now I'm two weeks into the New Year trying to find the strength to leave my glutenous habits of 2018 behind me. Whoa! To kick off the New Year, we are choosing outfits that we would normally never wear. I love this idea! Nothing better than starting fresh with something new and challenging.
Let's be real, if I could get away with wearing all black every day of the year, I would. Color has always been a bit scary to me and I'm not really sure why... I guess I like to blend in rather than stand out. I really wanted to step outside of my box and try something different, so I chose this gorgeous striped jumpsuit!
If you've been following our blog for a while, you'll know that I'm super into the retro bohemian styles. This piece screams late 60's vibes to me and I. am. here. for. it! This apple-cinnamon color is NEVER something I'd lean towards, but when I actually got the jumpsuit on I was in love! The vertical stripes are unbelievably flattering and I actually really enjoy the different colors running throughout.
I paired the jumpsuit with some tan wedges, which was perfect in my opinion. It made my legs look a mile long! I love the crisscross cut of the neckline, and that the waist is more of an empire cut. Together, they make the already flattering stripes even more flattering (especially for those of us who have had babies...mom bod helloooo!). I never thought I could rock a jumpsuit, let alone a LOUD colorful one, but this was such a pleasant surprise. If you've been hesitant about this trend, I really urge you to try it. You'll be surprised just like I was!
To keep along with the 60's trend, I paired this outfit with a long fringed necklace. The details on this piece are beautiful. I am really into statement necklaces as of lately and I've had my eye on this one for a hot second. The hues are nice and warm, which ties in perfectly with the tones of the jumpsuit.
These wooden earrings are fairly out of my box too, but I felt like they were neutral enough to go with the outfit. They give off a fun, retro vibe too! They're super unique and not something I've seen anywhere else.
I hope the New Year is treating you well! Step outside of your box and try some new things, you'll be surprised by how fun and exciting it can be!
New years are all about taking chances and becoming a better you! Going into 2019 it's time to step out of the comfort zone... even if that means wearing something you normally wouldn't! I always see super cute outfits but think "I can never pull that off" but why not!
This week I decided to wear an olive green overall jumpsuit with a brown mock neck long sleeve. This is definitely one of those cute outfits I see styled all the time on Instagram but never dared to try and to my surprise I loved it!
I actually never wear earrings so I went with a pair of big snakeskin dangle earrings that really stood out. I topped of with a small and simple gold necklace that perfectly laid underneath the neckline of the long sleeve shirt. Both of these accessorizes go nicely with the warm colors of my whole outfit!
I loved the way I felt in this outfit and am adding it to my wardrobe list of favorite outfits to rotate during special occasions! Lol. It's perfect for these cold Sacramento days when you throw a large coat on!
Getting out of your fashion comfort zone can be difficult, especially as you age, change weight, etc. But sometimes grabbing an item that looks crazy on the hanger ends up being a chic blessing in disguise.
Personally, I tend to go for more structured and tailored bottoms. I have never worn a wide leg trouser out in public ever. It looks absolutely cute and effortless on others but I always felt too short to try it. I decided to try this trouser and pair it with a form-fitting top to balance out the volume of the lower half. Since I'm not used to such a statement pair of pants, I kept the accessories simple.
Next time you're out shopping, consider grabbing that crazy piece on the hanger. Even if it never leaves the dressing room, you might learn something new about yourself.
Happy New Year everyone! A huge trend right now is animal print. My style is a lot more relaxed and casual, so animal print is something I typically shy away from. However, I'm really feeling it this time around!
Even though the top is wild for my tastes I decided to take this theme to the next level (for myself) and pair it with a fitted hunter green suede skirt! WHO AM I? Actually, I ended up falling in love with the skirt! It has two layers to create the tied look and I loved that the double layer helped hide any lines from the bodysuit. The knot in the front was flattering and the gathering also helped conceal my tummy area.
I went with gold accessories for this outfit to add even more pizzazz! I really like the mixed materials of the earrings. To me the earrings look like the "dark side" of the moon combined with the sun. My Y necklace is a simple, dainty piece that I tucked into the top. Since I don't really wear heels, I only had black flats, but this outfit would be great with heels!
We hope this post inspires you to try something new this year.
Thank you for stopping by!
With gift giving on our mind it's easy to forget about making an outfit for Christmas. Whether you go all out or dress down we have six styles to help jog some Christmas outfit inspiration. Best of all? These looks are affordable and stylish!
When it comes to the holidays, it's all about comfy and cozy for me! Taking a walk on Christmas Eve to see the lights or staying in with hot cocoa and Elf - ♪ these are a few of my favorite things. ♪
This outfit was chosen with those things in mind. Stay warm but still cheery in this locally hand-knit pom-pom beanie, while stretchy jeans means comfort for those last-minute shopping sprees (and room for more cookies).
The neutral color palette allows infinite possibilities for accessories - mix and match metals for an edgier look or keep it cute with on-trend tassel jewelry.
Cheers and happy holidays!

When it comes to family get togethers for the holidays, I usually choose comfort over style. We’re usually just hanging out at my in-laws, eating, and drinking the day away, so the last thing I want to wear is something tight or super fancy. But I still want to feel nice and pulled together! I decided to go with our newest jumpsuit because the colors are all of my favorite tones to wear. It fits perfectly throughout the top without the worry of my bra popping out, but still low cut enough to wear a pretty layered necklace. I added one of our zodiac necklaces, as well!
Another reason I went with this gorgeous jumpsuit was because it has elastic to accentuate my waist, without being too tight fitting. Because we all know a food baby is inevitable.
Finally I topped this look off with my favorite boat hat that we carry at our midtown location! The elastic inside makes this hat the perfect fit and goes with so many of my outfits. It also doesn’t give me “hat hair” so once I’m settled at my family's house with Prosecco in hand, I can take it off without worrying about losing volume in my locks.
Merry Christmas! It's absolutely the most magical time of year, I love everything about it. Especially all of the fun parties and family gatherings that happen all month long.
For this weeks theme I'm dressing for Christmas dinner! My whole entire family usually gets together and has dinner on Christmas so it's a fun time to get dressed up with everyone. I chose this adorable new skirt that we just got in. I paired it with this coffee mock neck top. These tops are seriously such a favorite of mine and are great paired with everything. I chose that color to help bring out the florals in the skirt. I added a cream sweater as well to add some warmth and color as well!
To accessorize it I chose to add black tights, just because it helps keep me warm and adds an extra layer. I added an adorable layered gold necklace to top it all off! I hope this inspires some of your outfits that you may need for this season and may you have a Merry Christmas!
It's Christmas! But Christmas in a forgiving climate is the most fun! Sacramento has just enough chilly temperatures for fashionable outerwear, but not too cold to sacrifice style.
With those benefits in mind, I decided to wear a beautiful pink crushed velvet pleated mid calf skirt! It's an amazing statement piece that deserved subtle details to enhance it. I styled it with a black off the shoulder bodysuit, and an off white fuzzy jacket.
A gold layered detail necklace, a gold detail bangle, and gold hoop earrings with rose details brought my look to life. I'm ready for any Christmas gathering and the comfort is unmatched. Happy holidays!

It feels like we were just longing for colder days and now Christmas is already upon us! I don't know that I'm quite ready for the holiday yet(my kids were awfully difficult to shop for this year), but I am really looking forward to all of the extra time I get to spend with family. It truly is one of the most wonderful times of the year.
Every year my boyfriend's cousin hosts an amazing party where all of our kids get to participate in a big gift exchange. This is really the only opportunity I get to dress up, so I try to be as festive as possible! This week's outfit is all about showing off your Christmas best, so I chose these fun linen overalls and paired it with a mock neck top.
The color of this top is gorgeous! Hunter green is very on trend for the season, and I feel like it's one color that actually flatters my fair complexion. The mock turtle neck on this top is also very flattering and adds something special to an otherwise basic shirt. The contrast of the green top against the black overalls is really pretty, too. If green isn't your color of choice this top also comes in a variety colors like white, plum, coffee, and mocha. Any of these choices would look great with these overalls!
The way the pants move is so beautiful! I love how flowy they are! There is just something so classic and effortless about them. The double strap detailing on this one adds a nice element. It also has pockets! The thing I like most about it is how versatile it will be. It's definitely something you can wear all year long!
There are so many different ways you can dress this outfit up! I chose a few delicate and shiny gold pieces because I felt like the outfit needed a little bit of sparkle. This long necklace makes a statement without being too loud. The tassel detail is also very on trend right now and has really pretty movement, just like the skirt! These studs are so classy and a perfect way to tie in another element of gold. Last, but not least- a classic red lip! It instantly makes ANY outfit look festive this time of year.
It's that time of year - short days jam packed with gift shopping, tree decorating, and cookie baking! ;) It's so easy to get wrapped up running around wearing an oversized sweater and leggings, so it's fun to dress up on Christmas.
For my festive look I went with a shimmery green dress. Again, I am loving these jewel greens. It looks so elegant and it's a nice step away from the typical red you often see this time of year. The sleeves help stay warm and the cross over neckline is flirty and fun.
I kept my accessories dainty since the dress has a bit of shimmer in the fabric. I went with a gold necklace that has little tabs throughout the chain. It wouldn't be my look without something celestial, so I opted for our new crescent moon stud earrings.
With the weather being much chillier now I added a pair of tights to stay warm. It'll be the perfect balance when indoors. I also kept it on the casual side with flats because I want to be comfortable when we do our after dinner walk to see Christmas lights. Have a wonderful holiday!

See you next week.
One of the great things about Sacramento is we have so many wonderful restaurants, bars, and lounges to check out. For a lot of people that work near downtown it can be a struggle to decide if you want to go home for dinner or just try a new place out. Since traffic can be crazy it makes sense to grab drinks or a meal on the grid before heading home. Here are a few work to play outfits that will make it easy to bounce from your desk to drinks in hand!
Sarah R.'s Style
One of my favorite things about the downtown area of Sacramento is that there are so many amazing restaurants, great places for happy hour, and a night life that is truly one of a kind. It's the perfect opportunity to unwind from a long day at work!
Our theme this week is "work to play," so I chose to go with a flirty, bohemian inspired dress. I paired it with black fleece lined leggings to keep the cold away, but if you're feeling brave you can forgo the leggings all together when your work day is done! Since the dress shows a little more leg, I'd definitely opt for the leggings during the day.
I love the detailing on this dress so much. The sleeves have a beautiful bell and ruffle to them. The back has a larger cage detail that shows a little skin without being too much. The floral pattern is there, but not too busy. It's just a little more elevated than your typical LBD!
I kept my accessories minimal because I didn't want to overpower the dress. I love moons and stars and feel like they are very on trend right now, so I thought this gold necklace was perfect! I added a delicate gold ring for some sparkle. You can't ever go wrong with that!
"Work hard, play harder" is my motto! After a long day of working hard in the office or studying all day at school and getting stuff done I love to unwind and have fun come night time!
I carefully chose my outfit with the idea that once I leave work I'm gonna head downtown for some drinks and dinner! I wore the cutest teal suede bodysuit with silver studded accents all over. This bodysuit really suits the shape of my body and feels so soft to wear!
I kept the suede theme going and threw on a charcoal gray suede jacket with faux fur. This jacket not only keeps me warm but is the perfect transition piece making my outfit work appropriate and still stylish! I went with dark denim jeans because they're my favorite and looked great with the jacket!
I really love the color scheme of this outfit and chose to accessorize with a light blue belt to make the blue color of the teal bodysuit pop out even more! I finished out with some head-turning silver dangly earrings and the cutest sterling silver rings! This outfit will have me looking my best at work and is perfect for keeping on and heading straight to dinner after and enjoying myself around the city!

Work to play outfits are one of my favorite outfits to style! There has been so many situations where I had to somewhere right after work and had to switch up a casual office look for a movie or girls night look.
I styled our cozy apricot sweater with a black jean for a work look. I made sure to pick a pair that was not distressed at all to keep it professional. I also love how these jeans are high waisted and hug your curves just right. Plus, I always love a good jean that can help flatten my little kangaroo pouch, hashtag, mom bod.
This sweater is super versatile and can easily be dressed up or down. The neck is just loose enough to have the look of a nice turtle neck without feeling like you’re suffocating. I’m loving the bell-like loose sleeves as well.
To take this look from work to play, I paired my favorite fisherman’s cap that we carry and some pretty gold earrings. For work I would wear flats or mules, and then switch them out for some heeled boots or booties. Bonus points: add a belt bag!
This weeks theme is so fun and I think something that every girl goes through either weekly or monthly. Dressing for work and then something that's easy to transition to going out and having fun. It can be tricky sometimes but most the time it's usually just a quick add or subtraction of an item of clothing you're wearing, or adding some fun jewelry.
For my outfit this week I chose this cute black and white button down dress. It is perfect for work because it can pass as pretty professional due to its color palette but so easily to transition into a night out.
For the night out part I chose to add this adorable white fuzzy jacket. It'll keep you warm and adds a fun and flirty accent to your dress.
To accessorize it I added a pretty little long silver necklace that had a bar accent on the bottom of it. As well as a white lace bralette underneath the dress so it helps with the low cut of the dress and adds a fun pop. Hope this helped inspire you today!
For those that don't know, I live in Natomas which has a lot of big chains. I feel I'm pretty lucky that I work in Midtown and Oak Park, so I can enjoy a lot of the local restaurants in the area. My boyfriend often meets me after work and it just feels more special because there are so many options we can always try something new.
For this week's look I went with relaxed camel color trousers and a navy blue linen button up. I like the mixed fabrics paired together and the color contrast is pretty pleasing to the eye as well. Since the trousers are high waisted and the top is longer I opted to tie a knot in the front.
Since it's pretty chilly after work I layered with my favorite faux leather moto jacket. A lot of people might not wear this type of jacket to work, especially in an office setting, but I think it adds a nice touch when transitioning to going out! Again, I am all about mixing, so I like the edgy jacket paired with the preppy outfit. You can almost never go wrong with a leather jacket! I think it's the easiest way to add a bit of sass to your look.
I kept my accessories really simple because I'm often running around moving clothes, folding, etc. I don't want anything to snag or get caught. With the V neckline on the top I opted for a shorter circle cutout necklace. I really enjoy folding/rolling up my sleeves and added a simple silver bangle for a bit of minimalist glam. To make sure my feet aren't completely wasted away by the evening I often times go for comfort while at work, but with my Rothy's I can get both. I have been LIVING in my Rothy flats! If you're unsure, I highly recommend them. I also LOVE their sneakers. Hopefully, my style mix up inspires your next work to play look!
Thank you for dropping by! We hope this gives you some desk to drinks outfit ideas. See ya next week.
