It's really easy to exclude color in your wardrobe when you're a busy bee or just fall back to wearing black. Mixing colors can really elevate a look and make certain items pop in your outfit. This week we've challenged ourselves to try and mix three colors minimum! Let's see how everyone handled this style challenge.
One of my favorite color combinations is burgundy and a muted mustard or camel color.
I decided to pair this outfit with a brown plaid blazer to complement the tones of the skirt and keep the look easy on the eyes. Black tights tie it all together for a fall/winter look that's perfect for going from desk to dinner. The rings and dainty necklace provide just the right amount of bling; the lovely sweetheart neckline of the bodysuit should be kept on display!
To upgrade this look even further with personality and fun, pair with your favorite shoe - I think any color would work!
Josie is really testing me this week...lol! I've managed to cut corners here and there with all of our new and challenging themes of 2019, but this week I have found NO way around it! This time around we are supposed to use 3 different colors in our outfits. This is obviously a huge challenge for me because color is out of my comfort zone. I know it seems silly, but if it's not white, black, grey, or some type of neutral I usually stay far away!
We recently started carrying these super soft graphic tees by a local vendor called Chalet & Jordyn. I love all the cute sayings on these shirts, especially this one! It literally describes my life in one sentence. The beauty of a graphic tee is that it's a basic, but it's effortless and can be paired with pretty much anything. I actually really love the peachy pink color of this top, but it's not a color I'd normally gravitate towards because I'm so pale. I figured it would wash me out, but I was pleasantly surprised!
I wanted to go for a more casual look, so I pulled out my trusty distressed denim. You can never go wrong with good pair of jeans. I love the relaxed vibe they give my outfit, AND I get points for actually putting on normal pants instead of leggings! I think this specific wash goes really well with the pink tee and the whole outfit feels really bright and cheerful.
Adding a third color in was SUCH a challenge for me. I wanted to try and avoid going for a "safe" choice like a black, so I opted for this cozy oatmeal colored cardigan. I truly would never think to pick something like this to pair with a pink shirt normally, so this is really stepping outside of my box. I know it seems silly, but I'm telling you... color just isn't my thing! The sleeves on this cardigan are so fun. They're puffy and so comfortable! I like the over sized fit and actually really enjoy the color as well.
For accessories, I kept mine very minimal. I was already feeling pretty out of my comfort zone, so I didn't feel that it was necessary to be loud or overstated with my jewelry. I chose some delicate faux pearl earrings and a dainty little arrow necklace. The earrings aren't something I'd normally go for either, but I thought they added a nice classy touch to my outfit! The necklace was a pretty way to add something else to the outfit, but not overpower my graphic tee.
Color can be fun sometimes! I had a really good time challenging myself with this week's theme. I can't make any promises that I'll be wearing pink all the time in the near future, but it's something I'll definitely consider here and there!
When I get up each morning my mind automatically gravitates to an all black outfit, but today I switched it up and added some color! (Okay, I still kept black apart of the outfit, but less than my usual options...)
I started this fit off with my new favorite ribbed black bodysuit. This bodysuit has the cutest wooden buttons that adds its only little twist of style to the look! I went with olive green pants because I love the way it looks against black. These pants are the absolute comfiest, putting no limits on all the fun stuff I can do in them!
You can never go wrong with denim so I threw on a blue denim sherpa jacket to tie my whole look together. But the real head turner of this outfit is the yellow neck scarf I have on! The color adds a huge twist to the whole vibe of what I'm wearing and makes it stand out in full effect.
Other than the scarf, I accessorized simple with some bougie clear earrings with gold accents inside! Each item of this outfit has its own uniqueness to it and are pieces that needs to be in everyone's closet!
This weeks SBR took me way out of my comfort zone and landed me in an outfit I would usually never wear! The color aspect of this week was hard for me because I clearly only ever want to choose cream or whites, but the colors I chose ended up working well for me.
For my outfit I chose this adorable hunter green pencil skirt. It is so comfortable and the tie detail on the front adds a fun piece to the skirt. I paired it with a simple white long sleeve shirt, I needed my shirt to be very simple due to the jacket I chose. The jacket is this super fun cheetah print jacket. It makes such a statement and is also so warm and cozy! Which is always a plus. Two things I would normally never choose to wear yet it was such a good change!
To accessorize it I chose to do a really big statement earring that matched the energy of the jacket. I didn't choose a necklace because there was already so much happening with the cheetah print I didn't want to distract it. Paired with a cute black bootie and you have yourself a cute little outfit!
I love mixing and matching color, I try to incorporate three colors to my outfit to give it extra edge. This week I went with one of our Chalet & Jordyn t-shirts in a soft baby blue. It says, "Good heart but this mouth..." which I think is pretty funny and accurate to a lot of people!
I paired it with our dark red-bean paper bag shorts for a nice contrast. To help give a bit of warmth I threw on our navy linen button up. Since this button up doesn't have a collar I folded the top in that way it could look almost like a kimono.
I kept my accessories simple with my snap bracelet, stud earrings, zodiac constellation necklace, and a cap. I wanted one neutral color so I thought the camel hat would look great with this outfit. To keep with the casual look I wore my Superga sneakers.
Thank you for checking in this week! We hope our looks have inspired you to try an outfit with three+ colors.
See you next week!
